Kacper Szulecki

is a researcher at the Department of Political Science, University of Oslo, and the founder of the Environmental Studies and Policy Research Institute (ESPRi) in Wroclaw, Poland. He received his M.Sc. in political science from the VU University Amsterdam (2008) and a Ph.D. in political sociology from the University of Konstanz (2012). He was a visiting researcher at the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies, EUI Florence, the Department of Climate Policy at DIW Berlin and a Dahrendorf Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance. He is interested in societal dissent, state-society relations in different contexts and the concept of securitization. His recent work focuses on climate policy, energy democracy and energy security. He (co)edited two special issues and three books, most recently “Energy Security in Europe” (Palgrave 2017), and authored “Dissidents in Communist Central Europe” (Palgrave 2019) as well as the first monograph on Poland’s anti-nuclear movement published in 2019 by the European Solidarity Center’s press.
